The team behind Cambridge Street Collective and Elshaw House
Our team are now underway on the two developments within Heart of the City: the cultural and social destination known as Cambridge Street Collective and the brand-new local carbon office building, Elshaw House.
The developments are located in the centre of Sheffield between Wellington Street, Carver Street and Cambridge Street – just yards away from our build-to-rent development Kangaroo Works.
A significant proportion of our project team are local, including Project Director Steve Green who said: “This is a prestigious development in the heart of Sheffield. I was born here and spend most of my life in and around Sheffield, so it is fantastic to be working on such an iconic project that will bring so much to the area.
The project is exciting and complex, but with our dedicated and competent team, we will be successful in making it a focal point of the city.”
Retention of existing historic buildings (notably Henry’s Corner and Bethel Sunday School) are an integral part of the project. They will be adjoined to the rear by a new structure providing an industrial-styled food hall and a live entertainment venue.
We will also be constructing the visually striking dark metal Elshaw House, which incorporates approximately 70,000 square feet of Grade A office space. The exemplar office will also be net zero carbon ready.
Design & Build Coordinator Simon Collins said: “Working right in the centre of Sheffield surrounded by neighbouring buildings and other ongoing developments can provide logistical challenges which are overcome with the expertise and collaboration of the whole team. I’m looking forward to seeing the completion of Cambridge Street Collective and Elshaw House which together with the other developments will transform the city centre.”
We are committed to using a skilled local supply chain on the project to support the regional economy. Richard Tingle, Senior Project Quantity Surveyor said: “The mix of redeveloping existing buildings and creating an innovative new building makes this a very exciting project to be part of. My role within the wider project team includes working with a robust local supply chain with the expertise to deliver this unique urban development. I am looking forward to seeing the end product in my home city of Sheffield.”
Heart of the City is Sheffield city centre’s transformational development scheme, creating 1.5 million sq. ft of individually designed and repurposed buildings for office, retail, residential and leisure use. It is expected to create around 500 construction jobs and should support between 5,500 and 7,000 jobs once completed.
