Hosting site tours with Caroline Gumble, CEO of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB)

On Thursday 10th December, Managing Director Tony Shaw and Operations Manager Ian Gresser MCIOB joined our project teams to give Caroline Gumble, CEO of the CIOB a tour of our three exciting projects within the Heart of the City masterplan in Sheffield.

Project Director Steve Green MCIOB kicked off the day with a short presentation giving the history behind Cambridge Street Collective, Elshaw House and Kangaroo Works before showcasing current progress and what the finished products will look like.

The team then took Caroline behind the hoarding on Cambridge Street Collective which will become a cultural and social destination and Elshaw House which will provide 78,000 sq. ft. of net zero carbon-ready office space.

The site tour began at Cambridge Street Collective and Elshaw House with a presentation
The team then walked up to an impressive vantage point on the 14-storey residential development, Kangaroo Works

The tour then concluded with a trip to neighbouring Kangaroo Works, where the project team walked the group up to an impressive vantage point on the project, which has a peak of 14 storeys and will be home to 365 high-quality apartments, with five commercial units at ground level.

Ian Gresser MCIOB, Operations Manager said: “It was a pleasure to show Caroline around our three exciting on-going projects in the heart of Sheffield. We hope the presentation and site tours provided a great behind-the-scenes view into current progress and the vibrant future of the area.”

I was fortunate to undertake a site visit with CIOB members and the Henry Boot team to look at the Heart of the City development in Sheffield last week. It’s a fascinating project, quite complex in some respects, and one which offers the heartening prospect of delivering a number of net zero buildings. I want to thank everyone who spent time with me during the visits, sharing their much valued expertise and experience.
