Our longest-serving employee, Dave Ellis, has achieved 50 years’ service with Henry Boot. Dave is held in high regard by all at Henry Boot, and his commitment to his role is reflected in the high standard of work he has produced consistently over the last 50 years.

Dave found his passion for bricklaying after starting with Henry Boot on the Barnsley city centre refurbishment project in 1968. Since finishing his apprenticeship in 1970, Dave has continued to work as a Bricklayer, benefitting countless jobs in the region. He has been part of key projects including regional hospitals in Nottingham, Derby and Chesterfield as well as completing works under the Amey ‘Streets Ahead’ framework over the last five years. Most recently, Dave has returned to Barnsley town centre, to work on the new redevelopment project, The Glass Works. Dave said: “I love working on The Glass Works as I reminiscence about the memories I have working on this site all those years ago as an apprentice. I look forward to my future at Henry Boot and have no intentions of retiring any time soon.”

“In this industry it is unheard of for an employee to stay loyal to an organisation for 50 years, making Dave’s achievement truly spectacular. His story was made even more special when he returned to work on the same site he first started on in 1968. Dave is a highly valuable employee who has contributed to many schemes that Henry Boot have delivered and ultimately, has helped change the built environment in the region.”
