This year, we teamed up with the Better Barnsley Bounders and took on the challenging Sheffield 10k, in support of Weston Park Cancer Charity.

Weston Park Cancer Charity is Weston Park Hospital’s only dedicated charity, and exists to create a better life for those living with, and beyond, cancer.

Weston Park Hospital is one of just four specialist cancer hospitals in England, and is home to the only radiotherapy department in South Yorkshire, and Weston Park Cancer Charity’s work has touched the lives of many of us here at Henry Boot.

The Bounders are a unique team of people from different organisations, all working together on the Better Barnsley regeneration project. Melissa Walsh and Mick Foster joined from Construction, alongside runners from Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council, NPS Group, Mott MacDonald and IBI.

With thousands of people entering the race, there was a great atmosphere in Sheffield City Centre. The Bounders raised a massive £2,735 and all completed the race, showing true grit and determination.

Over 18,000 patients are currently under the care of Weston Park Hospital, and resources raised by Weston Park Cancer Charity go towards funding things the NHS cannot, such as the specialist Weston Park Cancer Support Centre.

“We are extremely grateful to the Better Barnsley Bounders for joining Team Weston Park at the Sheffield 10k. It was a fantastic day and we are incredibly proud of everyone who laced up their trainers and crossed the finish line, to help us create a better life for cancer patients locally.”
