National Apprenticeship Week is happening now, March 6 to the 10 and Henry Boot Construction's Employment and Skills Manager Adeana Raper, along with a group of trainees, have been engaging with students about the range of career choices within construction.

Adeana and Trainee Site Manager Lydia McGuinness visited the Better Barnsley site to support students taking part in the ICE Bailey Bridge project, along with Adeana Lydia and Trainee Planner, Thomas Brady attending school assemblies throughout the week to encourage students to consider a career in construction.

National Apprenticeship Week is co-ordinated by the National Apprenticeship Service and is designed to celebrate apprenticeships whilst showcasing the positive impact apprentices can have on individuals, businesses and the wider economy to potential apprentice employers.

Henry Boot Construction currently employ trainees and apprentices, working towards varied career paths within the company. By supporting these young people, we can develop their skills and knowledge within the professional field.

"National Apprenticeship Week is a great time to engage with young people considering a career in the construction industry. At Henry Boot Construction, we have spent the week engaging with local schools in the community through assemblies, careers fairs and talks within the classroom about encouraging young people to consider apprenticeships in the construction industry as a future career path. We also worked with ICE Yorkshire and Humber Bailey Bridge project to a group of school children who are taking part in the Made in Barnsley programme at The Skills Village. This was a great demonstration of what is it like to work on a construction site."
