Henry Boot Construction successfully delivered the project to build the flagship Wharfedale View for Leeds City Council, an extra care housing scheme in Yeadon. The project was secured as part of the YORbuild framework.

The 45 self-contained apartments are part of the first council owned and managed extra care scheme in the city. The development comprises of 18 one-bedroom and 27 two-bedroom apartments, including a range of vibrant communal and outdoor spaces.

Henry Boot Construction continued to invest in and develop Building Information Modelling (BIM) throughout the scheme. BIM workshops were provided to key stakeholders in collaboration with Watson Batty Architects.

"Staff from Leeds City Council found the workshop very informative and a useful learning point in the development of the Council's BIM strategy. This will feed into how the Council uses BIM to deliver higher quality projects and more efficient processes in the future."

Dr Tom Knowland, Head of Sustainable Energy & Climate Change at Leeds City Council

The Henry Boot Construction design team modelled the project utilising AutoCAD Revit software. They also developed 4D simulations which were used for progress reporting and to utilise BIM tools on a live project.

The Extra Care scheme forms part of the council's plans to provide homes to suit people's needs both now and in the future. The scheme was completed to the full satisfaction of the client and was awarded a RoSPA Silver Award for the team's commitment to maintaining excellent health and safety standards.

"We are delighted with Wharfedale View and with the collaborative approach taken by Henry Boot Construction and their consultant team. It's flagship scheme for the council; providing spacious and modern accomodation but more crucially, it will enable older people to live independently with the reassurance of care and support when they need it."
