A group of Henry Boot employees have completed a 26 mile hike in the Peak District, to raise money for the charities supported by the Master Cutler’s Challenge.

The event, which took place on Saturday 20 August, involved hiking a circular route, starting at Hope Station and walking through Ladybower, Derwent Reservoir and Bamford before returning to Hathersage.

Walking in groups, the teams all successfully completed the gruelling endurance hike in their target time of 8-10 hours, and raised nearly £2,000 for the Master Cutler’s charities, St Luke’s Hospice and Rotherham Hospice.

Participants from Henry Boot Construction were Ryan Spencer, Gary Holmes, Mick Wake, Sam Hough, Sarah Adams, Chris Orton and Lydia McGuinness. Henry Boot Developments participants Hamer Boot, Jamie Wordsworth, Tom Simmonds, Andrew Milne and Ruth Wright also completed the challenge.

Ryan Spencer said: “A number of volunteers found the walk more difficult than expected, but we all finished in a reasonable time and had a great time along the route. It was a great experience for a truly worthy cause, and definitely worth the pain afterwards!”

Further details of the route can be found here. There is still time to donate towards the challenge, by visiting the group’s fundraising page.
