Championing BIM at Sheffield Hallam University – 27/10/16

For BIM to be fully adopted across the construction industry clients, design teams and contractors have to work collaboratively towards a common goal. This will involve changing procurement routes and a focus on how we work together to create better buildings.

As part of our drive to engage with key clients in the region BIM Champion Philip Lambourne presented BIM from a contractor’s point of view to Sheffield Hallam University estates staff and project managers. We were invited to give our input by Architects Watson Batty who have worked with SHU on a number of prestigious projects over recent years, including the current flagship Extra Care project at Yeadon.

The discussions focused on procurement routes, reuse of information through the project and benefits of BIM for facilities management.

“We were pleased to be invited along to the workshop as this helps us to better understand how far along the BIM journey our clients are.”
