Director Amy Stanbridge shared sector insight and experience with key property stakeholders at Place Yorkshire’s Emerging Development Hotspots event in Leeds last week.

The breakfast event, which we also chose to sponsor on the back of Amy’s involvement, was held at Brewery Wharf on 5 March. It explored some of Yorkshire’s up-and-coming development locations, as well as the state-of-the-market and key challenges facing developers and contractors today.

Amy was part of a three-strong expert panel discussion, sitting alongside senior representatives from Scarborough Group International and Spawforths.

Led by Place North’s Senior Reporter, Neil Tague, the conversation was free flowing and informative. Amy discussed how Yorkshire as a whole is worthy of more investment and development – highlighting our experience in the big cities like Sheffield but also the great opportunities across many of the region’s smaller market towns.

Amy spoke of our pride having delivered The Glass Works development in Barnsley – a truly world-class example of how enhancing the built environment can quickly change the narrative around a destination, and how Barnsley has since become a leading case study for many other local authorities to follow.

On the current state-of-the-market, she explained how the sector – including construction – has faced a quieter period than normal over the last 12 months, flagging some of the conflicting challenges the sector faces between realising ambitious Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) targets, while simultaneously experiencing ongoing funding challenges.

She did, however, state that there was growing optimism returning to the region’s property community now.
