Our congratulations go to Henry Boot Construction’s Buyer, Samantha Hough who was one of the many thousands of runners taking part in the annual London Marathon held on Sunday 24 April 2016.  Samantha Hough ran for St John Ambulance and raised an incredible £2398.35 for the charity.

St John Ambulance is a volunteer-led, charitable non-governmental organisation dedicated to the teaching and practice of first aid in England.  The St John Ambulance Association was set up in 1877 by the Venerable Order of Saint John to teach industrial workers first aid so they could provide on-the-spot treatment in emergencies.  St John Ambulance provides first aid cover for hundreds of events every year.

The London Marathon was first run on the 29 March 1981 and has been held in the Spring every year since.  The runners set off from Greenwich Park and Blackheath in south east London and finished in The Mall in front of Buckingham Palace.

“Running the London Marathon for St John Ambulance was one of the best experiences of my life.  Seeing just how important their presence was when I was struggling towards the finish line really hit home what an incredible charity they are.
A huge thank you to everyone who has donated and supported me over these past few months.  I did question my sanity on mile 22!  I intend to rest up this week then it’s back to pounding the pavements ready for the Yorkshire Marathon later in the year.”
