Hunningley Primary school visit Better BarnsleyBarnsley MBCBetter Barnsley

Henry Boot Construction’s Communications Officer, Catherine Spooner was pleased to be a part of the Hunningley Primary School pupil visit to the Better Barnsley project where around 79 pupils came to the Better Barnsley Shop and town centre as part of their Past, Present and Future project which forms part of their curriculum this year.

The pupils visited the Barnsley Museum and Discovery Centre located in Barnsley Town Hall and then went onto the Better Barnsley shop where they could look at images showing how the new town centre will look in the future.

Pupils got the chance to explore the town centre to see where the new market hall, public realm, cinema, shops and restaurants will be located and speak to members of the public to hear their views on what they remember about Barnsley and their ideas for the future.

“Thank you Hunningley Primary School for visiting us and being so enthusiastic and positive about the plans for your new town centre. We are undertaking this project for you - creating a better town centre to attract more visitors, create more jobs, and make Barnsley a better place to live, work and visit.”

Matthew Gladstone, Executive Director, Place

“The ideas board in the Better Barnsley Shop was full by the time the pupils left.  They were very excited about the plans and we look forward to welcoming them back when the redevelopment project is complete.”
