Henry Boot Construction’s Supply Chain Partners adopting BIM tools at Extra Care Housing, Yeadon – 20/05/16

BIMYORbuildLeeds City Council

Henry Boot Construction are continuing to invest in and develop BIM competencies.  Our Extra Care Housing scheme in Yeadon, which is being delivered for Leeds City Council, has been modelled in Autodesk’s BIM design software Revit.  Using the models developed by our architect Watson Batty and structural engineers Dudley’s, our sub-contractors and suppliers have the opportunity to model their design elements as well.

This allowed the detailed steel frame connections to be modelled by our sub-contract partner Framedeck Ltd.  Using files in IFC formal the information in the models can be transferred between different software packages and integrated back into the main model.

The steel framing system which creates the inner leaf of the external walls has also been modelled by Steel Frame solutions Ltd and installed by Global Contract Interiors Ltd.  This adds a further level of details to the model of the building, showing locations of studs and allowing an accurate take off of the required materials.

“A vital part of our BIM adoption programme is to ensure our key supply chain partners are also BIM ready.  We continue to support our supply chain partners in development of these new skills and capabilities.”
