Henry Boot Construction are pleased to announce that our Employment & Skills Manager, Adeana Raper has been appointed a Sheffield City Region Enterprise Adviser working with Birley Community College, a popular secondary school located in the south east of Sheffield.

Adeana will attend Birley School on a regular basis throughout the year to host a series of speaker sessions called ‘Working Lunch’ to advise students about the different careers available in Henry Boot Construction from working on site to running social media.

Adeana will work with the school on a more strategic level to identify where every subject could have some business input to show how the academic concepts can be used in the workplace environment.

During the summer, volunteers from Henry Boot Construction will attend sessions to explain to students interested in construction what careers paths are open to them and what they should be considering in order to progress.

Enterprise Adviser training session

On Wednesday 4th May, Adeana attended an Enterprise Adviser training session alongside Helen Challis, Learning and Development Advisor at Henry Boot Construction. The event was held at the Showroom in Sheffield and the Advisers discussed their personal experiences and discovered more about the programme and network.

“The industry needs young people who are disciplined and motivated, with drive and ambition.  We want to see young people with the confidence to realise their potential.”

“It was really useful sharing ideas and tools with other Enterprise Advisors and the Enterprise Co-ordinators.  I am looking forward to being matched with a school and sharing my experiences with other colleagues in the Henry Boot Group of Companies who may be interested in becoming an Advisor.”
