Simon Carr, Managing Director of Henry Boot Construction, recently attended the official opening ceremony for the new FARRRS link road in Doncaster, now named the Great Yorkshire Way.  The new link road is over 3 miles long and took more than 2 years to complete.

Dignitaries’ and attendees boarded an aircraft at Robin Hood Airport and took to the skies to get an aerial view of the link road.  The group included the Mayor of Doncaster Ros Jones, MP Caroline Flint and Managing Director of Doncaster Sheffield Airport, Steve Gill.

The first phase of the Finningley and Rossington Regeneration Route Scheme (FARRRS) runs from the M18, Junction 3 to the A638.  The second phase is expected to begin later in the year which will take you directly to the departure gate of Robin Hood Airport.  The new link road will greatly benefit Doncaster with the creation of jobs, investment, 1200 new homes and a distribution centre.

“As part of my role in the Sheffield City Region, it is pleasing to see the transformation of the major infrastructure scheme.  It has the potential to bring nearly £2 billion of investment and 20,000 jobs to the region, with the airport being at the heart of the regeneration.”
