Henry Boot Construction has recently completed the bespoke helipad at Sheffields’ Northern General Hospital.  This unique helipad is located outside the doors of the existing Accident and Emergency Department which means patients requiring life-saving treatment can be transferred to the Major Trauma Centre within seconds.

The project included the demolition of a building and site clearance to allow for the construction of the multi storey helipad, a dedicated access ramp with a shell ready basement and reconfigured ambulance bay.

The helipad scheme is the latest in a number of projects delivered under the Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust framework agreement.

The new landing facility is being funded by Sheffield Hospitals Charity with their “Saving Time, Saving Lives” appeal.  The appeal needs to raise £2 million to complete the helipad and to date £1.8 million has been pledged or donated.

“The design and construction of our new Helipad has been a real team effort from all involved.  I believe the hospital now has a fantastic facility that I am sure will contribute to the saving of many lives in the future.”

Leigh Shearstone BSc MRICS, Estates Manager, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

“This state of the art facility will be widely used by individuals around the country.  It was a successful project and a pleasure to work for such a great client, along with an excellent design team.”
