Henry Boot Construction colleagues were invited to Horizon Community College on Thursday 19 May 2016 to discuss the Better Barnsley scheme with students. Adeana Raper, Employment & Skills Manager, and Ryan O’Loughlin, Project Director, both attended the college and gave presentations to students about the Better Barnsley project.

Adeana discussed opportunities for Horizon students to undergo work experience and how to begin a career in the construction industry. As the Enterprise Adviser for Horizon Community College, Adeana also took the opportunity to discuss plans for the next academic year, whilst Ryan informed the students all about the Better Barnsley scheme in the town centre.

Staff and students at Horizon Community College said: “We are blown away with the potential future of Barnsley, we are very much looking forward to working with Henry Boot Construction through what we hope will be a strong partnership over the next few years.”

“The students we met at Horizons were very enthusiastic about the redevelopment of Barnsley town centre and hopefully our relationship with Horizons will grow over the coming years.”

“Our visit to Horizon Community College provided a great opportunity to raise awareness of the Better Barnsley scheme. The students provided some great ideas for new retail and leisure within the town centre and we will be visiting again so they can share their thoughts on how best to promote the project within the college and town.”
