On Friday 3 June, a team of fundraisers came together to complete the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, in aid of St Wilfrid’s Centre. The team included members of the Henry Boot Construction site team currently working on the new St Wilfrid’s development, alongside wider professionals. Andy Atkinson, Chief Surveyor, was the team’s driver, arranging strategic check points for food and refreshments.

Starting from the Pen-y-ghent café, the team proceeded up the first peak, next travelling through Ribblesdale Viaduct, up Whernside, then finally ascending Ingleborough, with a hike back to the café to finish.

After a magnificent effort in beautiful sunshine, the team completed the challenge, hiking 30 miles in just 11 hours 32 minutes with a total of 1,585 metres of ascent.

So far, the group have managed to raise more than £8,000 for St Wilfrid’s Centre. The money raised will help the charity continue to provide valuable support and services to homeless and vulnerable people in Sheffield. If you would like to donate towards this incredible cause, please visit the team’s fundraising page.

“I’m really happy we had a great turnout to do the challenge! The sun was shining, spirits were high and it was a fun day! The 30 miles round trip became very tiring towards the end, but worth every mile – we’ve now raised over £8,000 and are hoping to surpass the £10,000 target!”

Tom Gibbons, Quantity Surveyor, Henry Boot Construction Limited

“Congratulation on completing the 3 Peaks and grateful thanks from all at St Wilfs. What a great team and a pleasure to have worked with you all. Once again many thanks, you will always be part of ‘Home at St Wilfrids.”
