‘Datto Ping!’ street table tennis festival takes place in Barnsley – 24/06/16

This year, Henry Boot Construction are one of the sponsors of ‘Datto Ping!’ an exciting new street table tennis festival in Barnsley.

The 'Datto Ping!' festival started on Saturday 11th June and will run over a five week period, which will see 16 table tennis tables positioned around the centre of Barnsley, such as the Barnsley Market and the Town Hall.

Henry Boot Construction are sponsoring the event by donating money towards the funding of the table tennis tables. Catherine Spooner, Communications Officer, is also volunteering her time to promote the event to people of all ages as a way of becoming more active.

The Better Barnsley Shop will also become the Ping Parlour for the duration of the festival, with activities taking place on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The Ping Parlour will also be open six days per week for free table tennis. The Better Barnsley Shop is located at Cheapside in Barnsley town centre.

Robot Challenge, Saturday 25th June

On Saturday 25th June, the Better Barnsley Shop played host to a robot challenge, with Shaun Alvey from Inclusive Ping Pong Ltd. The competitors had to return balls from a robot and hit paper cups, which were numbered with different scores.

Around one hundred people of all ages came into the shop throughout the day to play. The winner was Dmars from Russia, who scored the most points and won a pair of table tennis bats.
