Two New Apprentices join Better Barnsley team – 25/07/16

Apprentices at Better Barnsley

Henry Boot Construction are very pleased to offer places to two apprentices, Will Elcoate from South Hiendley and Jordan Lloyd from Cudworth.

Will and Jordan had previously worked for Lovells on projects in Yorkshire, but unfortunately due to funding cuts they had been made redundant after 11 months.

Both apprentices are attending Chevin College; Jordan is undertaking a multi-skilled apprenticeship which involves elements in various trades such as carpentry, bricklaying and plastering, whereas Will is a joinery apprentice. This opportunity will mean that both apprentices will now be able to complete their full apprenticeship.

Will and Jordan are both enjoying being on the Better Barnsley Project and say, “It is the best site experience we have had.”

The two apprentices are grateful to have this opportunity to work on a local project and are pleased to be part of the redevelopment of Barnsley Town Centre. In the long term, they hope to go on to have careers in the construction industry.

"Futureworks (Yorkshire) are so pleased to be working in partnership with Henry Boot again; both Jordan and William had been displaced by their previous employer and were at risk of not completing their apprenticeships. By initially offering placements to both young men Henry Boot have enabled Futureworks (Yorkshire) to employ them for the remainder of their apprenticeship and jointly support them so they obtain successful completion."
