Table tennis tables move to permanent locations in Barnsley after ‘Datto Ping!’ festival – 26/07/16

Better BarnsleyDatto Ping! Festival

With the ‘Datto Ping!’ festival coming to a close last week, the table tennis tables will be moving to new permanent homes across Barnsley town centre. Henry Boot Construction has contributed towards the sponsorship of these tables for the festival.

These locations will be spread across the town centre and the tables will still be available and free for anyone to use. Among the locations are the Better Barnsley Shop, the Alhambra Shopping Centre, the Library and Cannon Hall. For more details of all the locations, see below.

It is estimated over the course of the five week ‘Datto Ping!’ event that around 10,000 people enjoyed playing on the tables.

Catherine Spooner, Communications Officer for the Better Barnsley project, said, “Ping! Barnsley 2016 has been a great success and Henry Boot Construction are delighted to have been able to contribute towards the sponsorship of the tables. It is estimated that thousands of people picked up a bat to have a game of table tennis during the festival, which appealed to all age ranges and capabilities. Hopefully the tables, now sited at various locations throughout the borough, will encourage the people of Barnsley to continue playing the sport for many years to come.”

“I wanted to thank you all for being part of the Datto Ping! Barnsley Festival, as without your cooperation and support it would not have been possible to deliver the festival in the first instance.”
