Henry Fanshawe SchoolConnor Sergeant completes work experience at Dronfield

A student from nearby Henry Fanshawe School has completed a work experience placement at Henry Boot Construction’s head office in Dronfield.

Connor Sargeant spent the week learning about different areas and aspects of the business. During his work experience, Connor spent time with the bid management, estimating, purchasing, planning and business development teams, where he gained an understanding of the work that goes into each project.

During his time with the planning team, Connor helped to plan a presentation for an upcoming job, and learnt about the difficulties of planning jobs, due to all the varying factors that need to be taken into account.

On Thursday, Connor visited many of the AMEY development sites and was able to experience how a site works and the complications that Site Managers and Quantity Surveyors have to deal with. Connor’s final day was spent with the business development team, where he experienced the critical work they do to expand the business and publicise the company.

Connor said, “I have thoroughly enjoyed my work experience, especially the site visits, and this opportunity has given me a great insight into the construction industry and how contractors work. The staff at Henry Boot Construction have been very friendly and kind.”
