Henry Boot Construction were pleased to provide a six week placement to apprentice Momodou Jatta at Kier Property’s Snowhill Retail Park development. The placement, organised through Futureworks (Yorkshire), has filled a gap in Momodou’s employment and provided him with the necessary experience to complete his first year as an apprentice.

Momodou, who is working towards his Level 2 in General Construction Operations, has spent much of his time shadowing site team members to gain knowledge of processes and activities. By working with our Engineers, Momodou has learned how they set out and control levels, and helped de-nail profile boards and fix new ones, in addition to putting up safety signs and checking walkways.

Momodou has also worked with ground-workers, helping to check digging works and observing plant, as well as carrying out practical tasks such as hand-digging, placing spacers, polystyrene and steel mesh, and assisting with concreting works.

“It’s been a pleasure to have Momodou with us for the last few weeks; Momodou has been found a very willing and eager lad, keen to learn more. We hope that his time on our site has been useful to him in gaining experience within the construction industry, and we take pride in promoting local skills and employment.”

Dave Foster, Works Manager, Henry Boot Construction Limited
