Henry Boot Construction’s site team at Kier Property’s Snowhill Retail Park are hosting Danyaal Khan from the University of Barnsley Campus on a work placement. Danyaal is currently studying Construction Project Management at the university and has always wanted a career in construction, with his initial inspiration coming from his desire to learn how skyscrapers are built.

Whilst at Snowhill, Danyaal has been working alongside Trainee Technician Lydia McGuiness, Project Manager Mat Clarke and Works Manager Dave Foster. On his first day Danyaal had an induction and learnt about health and safety whilst working on a construction site. Currently, Danyaal is observing different construction processes, such as creating steel frames, concreting, excavation work, drainage and cavity wall installation. Danyaal has also spent a day setting out with Engineer Sam Syddall and Planner Andy Cope, learning how to use the Astra power project.

Danyaal said, “I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Henry Boot and the Snowhill site team, as they have given me the chance to experience a live construction site. So far it has already broadened my knowledge of the methods of construction. I can’t wait for my continued involvement in the project and to see it as a finished retail park.”
