A student from Meadowhead School has completed a work experience placement at Henry Boot’s head office in Dronfield.

During his placement, Munashe Mataga undertook numerous tasks, including assisting with sending tender enquiries to subcontractors, preparing subcontractor orders, payments, site measurements and attending weekly meetings. Munashe also spent a day with the bid writing, purchasing and planning teams to understand how each department fits into Henry Boot Construction as a whole and each colleague’s individual roles.

During his time with the planning team, Munashe spent the day with Chief Planner Paul Crockett, who showed him the roles each colleague has in the planning department. On his final two days, Munashe attended several Amey schemes, as well as Henry Boot Construction’s Stonebridge Homes development at Stocksbridge.

Quantity Surveyor Ben Pearson said, “Munashe had a positive attitude to work and a willingness to learn, he co-operated and interacted well with other members of the site team and used his initiative to complete tasks.”

“I am very grateful for the experience of working at your company. I enjoyed it very much and I know this work experience will help me in the future because now I realise all the opportunities I have waiting for me after college. I enjoyed my last two days the most, which were going out on site with Ben and Graham because I got to see some of the jobs Henry Boot Construction was working on. All the employees were very kind to me and showed overwhelming support and I would like to thank them all for being so kind. Thank you again for the gift of your time and the sharing of experience that you gave me.”
