As part of their continuing drive to be at the forefront of BIM adoption in the region, Henry Boot Construction have signed up to a pilot BIM Verification scheme, being run in partnership between the NFB and BSI. This scheme assesses a company’s BIM readiness against PAS 1192, the document that sets out the framework and processes that should be in place on a BIM level 2 project.

Once the verification process is complete, Henry Boot Construction will have documented processes and procedures that will enable the delivery of projects using Building Information Modelling (BIM). These focus on using a common single and coordinated source of structured information throughout the lifecycle of a project. In order to achieve verification, Henry Boot Construction will have to demonstrate that their procedures adhere to the requirements of the PAS 1192-2 standard.

The process will begin with a gap analysis of Henry Boot’s current systems, to highlight areas that require further development. The final stage will be an audit by the BSI, which will assess the documented procedures for all processes in PAS 1192-2 and the competency of staff.

The verification of these procedures allows Henry Boot Construction to demonstrate its BIM competence and to further build on the drive to adopt BIM in the company.

Richard Grafton, Head of Policy & Compliance at Henry Boot Construction, said: “We are delighted to be working with the NFB on this pilot verification scheme. This is a great collaborative working opportunity which will build on the work carried out by our BIM taskforce and embed BIM process within the company management system.”
