Fir-Vale School Visit to St Wilfrids

Henry Boot Constructions’, Project Manager, Adam Houlston, and Tom Gibbons, Quantity Surveyor welcomed a site visit from pupils at Fir Vale School on 17 March 2016.

The pupils were given a tour of the site and a presentation by the site team on the various construction risks and developing stages which have to be undertaken to complete the St Wilfrid’s project.  A construction quiz was a fun part of the visit and all the pupils enjoyed taking part.

Henry Boot Construction are building 20 self-contained flats with communal spaces for Sheffield homeless charity St Wilfrid’s.  The project is aimed at improving the quality of life for vulnerable people and the homeless.

“A great day was experienced showing the Fir Vale pupils around the St Wilfrid’s project.  The site team were kept on their toes by the number of questions asked by the enthusiastic pupils whilst a construction quiz was keenly contested within the Community Room.”

Adam Houlston, Project Manager, Henry Boot Construction

“We took part in a competition in the morning looking at the different risks on a construction site which was really interesting and made us aware of the different risks on a site and how they can be prevented.”

“The site visit was well planned and we feel that students were given the opportunity to get a real insight into the world of work in construction.  It was amazing to see them taking part, asking questions and enjoying themselves.”
