Henry Boot Construction’s redevelopment of the 1940’s landmark Becor House into the Joseph Banks Laboratories and Minster House, for the University of Lincoln, was highly commended in the regeneration category at the RICS East Midlands Awards in May.

This redevelopment was the first phase of the major new Lincoln Science and Innovation Park – a significant investment by the joint venture partnership between the Co-Operative and the University of Lincoln. With the vision behind the partnership to regenerate the area to support business growth across the region by providing the infrastructure, networks and funding environment for high tech businesses to flourish.

The new buildings accommodate the Schools of Chemistry, Life Sciences and Pharmacy and will provide over 6,000 square metres of new teaching, learning and research space. The Joseph Banks Laboratories include research facilities for molecular biology, microbiology, tissue biology, bioacoustics and ancient DNA analysis, chemistry and medicinal chemistry, pharmacology and medicinal pharmacy. Minster House accommodates animal cognition behaviour and welfare research.

The event was held at the Curve Theatre, Leicester and was hosted by George Clarke Hon RICS from Channel 4’s Restoration Man.
