Henry Boot Constructions’ site team at Chesterfield College has recently provided two bulk bags of red building sand from Travis Perkins to the Colleges’ Construction Brickwork Department.

This will help support students studying bricklaying skills including how to set out block and brick work, construct solid and cavity walling, decorative brickwork, advanced trowel skills and maintaining masonry structures. The site team have also organised some practical work experience for College students who have been assisting the site team by laying foundation blocks on the New East Block site at Infirmary Road, Chesterfield.

Henry Boot Construction are currently working on a new construction centre for Chesterfield College which includes new teaching and workshop space which will house the Colleges’ carpentry, joinery, painting and decoration departments. The 42 week project started in September and completion is due in July 2015.

“It’s a fantastic gesture from Henry Boot Construction and one I’m sure the Bricklaying staff and students will make great use of. The onsite experience that students are gaining from working with Henry Boot will give them such a valuable insight into the industry and working on big projects like our fantastic new construction workshops on Infirmary Road.”
