YORBuild Extra Care Housing Scheme presented to Leeds College of Building students – 17/07/15

Leeds College of Building
Leeds City Council

Project Planner, Phil Lambourne and Employment and Skills Manager, Adeana Raper presented our latest Extra Care Housing scheme in Yeadon, Leeds to Leeds College of Building students earlier this month.

The presentation provided students with an understanding of the scheme which will be the first council owned and managed extra care scheme and when complete will provide 45 self-contained apartments. Topics covered by the presentation included team structures, site establishment, logistics, planning and BIM including 3D and 4D modelling.

Students from the college are also being offered summer work placements along with further site visits, guest speakers and presentations throughout the course of the project.

The flagship Extra Care housing scheme has been awarded through the current YORbuild Framework, and forms part of the council’s ambitions plans to provide accommodation to suit people’s needs for now and the future.

“We are delighted to be working with Henry Boot on their prestigious Extra Care Housing project at Yeadon and our students are relishing the opportunity for site visits and to experience the Summer work placements. The presentations we have had from the Henry Boot Project team have been excellent and well received by both staff and students. Guest lectures are also proposed relating to specific key elements of the project including building information modelling and technical details which should in turn further inspire our students as they develop their employability skills on our full and part time programmes.”
