As part of Henry Boot PLC and its subsidiaries commitment to the Master Cutlers' Challenge and the communities in which we work, a friendly 5 aside football tournament was arranged with teams representing Henry Boot PLC, Henry Boot Construction, Banner Plant, Henry Boot Developments, Hallam Land Management, Calver Cricket Club and a Rest of the World team.

Friendly fixtures, scouting and a good deal of rivalry occurred in the build-up to the big day with the tournament taking place at the Akademy in Dronfield. Eventual winners Henry Boot Construction took home the coveted trophy.

The Master Cutlers' Challenge is one of the largest charity fundraising events in the Sheffield region, with this year’s proceeds going to the Brathay Trust a charity organisation established to improve the life chances of children and young people by inspiring them to engage positively in their communities. Working with the most vulnerable and hard to reach young people the charity aims to develop their confidence, motivation and skills to unlock their potential and make positive changes in their lives.

“A fantastic performance by the Construction boys - we overcame an early loss against Banner Plant to win the remaining four games to clinch the title. It was an enjoyable, keenly contested competition that will hopefully be made an annual event as it provides the perfect opportunity to mix with employees from other areas of the business. A special thanks should go to Matthew Boot for organising the event.”
