A major construction milestone has been marked at the Fox Valley Stocksbridge site earlier this month, with work now progressing to the main retail and office buildings on the 28 acre former steelworks site.

This milestone was marked by the burial of a special time capsule on site which saw pupils from Stocksbridge Junior School gather information about life in the Stocksbridge area as well as history of the site. Further events included the release of hundreds of balloons from the heart of the site to celebrate the major investment which will bring new retail space, offices and 114 executive homes to the area.

“It’s great for everyone involved in the project to see the development reach this stage, a great deal of hard work had gone into getting to this point and to see that come to fruition and starting to take shape is fantastic.
This is a really important scheme for this part of north Sheffield; we are not only bringing jobs and investment but effectively a new town centre in a part of the city which really has been underserved in terms of its retail offer.”

Mark Dransfield
Managing Director, Dransfield Properties

“It’s fantastic to see this important milestone marked for a development that will bring hundreds of new jobs to the north of Sheffield. I look forward to seeing the development take shape and, ultimately, new homes, offices and retails outlets opening up on this key site.”

Councillor Leigh Bramall
Cabinet Member for Business, Skills and Leisure at Sheffield City Council
