Amey Streets Ahead projects recognised at ICE Awards – 10/04/15
The Amey 25 year Streets Ahead contract for which we are preferred contractor has been recognised at the recent ICE Awards. The ICE Yorkshire and Humber Awards give public recognition for outstanding examples of the art of civil engineering.
The Oughtibridge Bridge Cantilevered Footway Strengthening project was awarded a High Commendation in the Smeaton Award category. Whilst the Storth Lane Bridge Strengthening project was awarded a Certificate of Excellence in the Sir Jon Fowler Award category, which was a new category for 2015. The award was established to honour regional civil engineer and past ICE President John Fowler who was born in Sheffield, South Yorkshire and designed and built some incredible works of civil engineering including the Forth Railway Bridge and the Metropolitan Railway
“The work to design and strengthen this Grade 2 listed wrought iron bridge sympathetically was noted by the judges. Overcoming difficulties on site and adapting the design showed the team working approach to this project while minimising the impact on the community.”
Judges’ comments, Storth Lane Bridge Strengthening, Certificate of Excellence, Sir John Fowler Award
“We are really pleased that these two projects received their awards. It is a credit to all those involved that the Institute of Civil Engineers recognised the effort put into these projects.”
