Make It Better

Ewen MacKinnon, a retired Consultant Surgeon who has raised over £80,000 for The Children’s Hospital Charity, through his charity golf days, celebrated a special landmark this summer.

The 25th consecutive annual golf event in support of The Children’s Hospital Charity, was held on Friday 1st August at Sicklehome Golf Course.

The Children's Hospital in Sheffield provides specialist services to the entire region and is a national centre of excellence for several conditions. This years’ event raised a staggering £8,130.00 for the Charity’s ‘Make it Better’ appeal.

The Children’s Hospital Charity’s ‘Make it Better’ appeal has been launched to help raise much needed funds to enhance The Children’s Hospital, Sheffield. The appeal aims to create the best possible environment for children to get better more quickly, delivering world class facilities to match the world class expertise already provided, and helping them to get better more quickly. So far £3 million has been donated and raised towards the appeal with building work already starting on site.

The event was open to anyone that enjoyed a golf day in the beauty of the Peak District with a host of local companies taking part which, included a team from Henry Boot made up of Dave Pearson, Giles Boot, Keith Burns and Gary Hazlehurst.

Congratulations to the Henry Boot team who took first place.

“We are overwhelmed by the support that Ewen has given the Charity over the last 25 years. His golf days continue to flourish and it’s great to see how many people have supported the event from the beginning as well as new teams joining the day and raising vital funds for the Make it Better appeal to transform our hospital.”
