Henry Boot support HNC presentations on behalf of Sheffield College – 12/06/14

The Sheffield College

Henry Boot Construction’s Training Adviser Adeana Raper recently took part in a HNC presentation panel on behalf of Sheffield College. The panel was made up of local employers and college lecturers and is the third year Henry Boot Construction has been involved.

The event saw students, undertaking HNC Construction or Civil Engineering courses at the College, give presentations on a specific Construction project. This year’s scheme was the Old Silver Blades/Casino building on Queens Road, Sheffield, with students submitting business cases for redevelopment. Ideas ranged from Sheltered Accommodation for the over 55’s, to Student Accommodation and Retail.

“This is a real opportunity for students to ‘show their worth’. In most cases it is the first presentation they have given. In the future they may have to stand in front of clients and present and this gives them an opportunity to practice in front of industry employers.
The presentations seem to be improving year on year and this in part has to be down to the good work of the lecturers at Sheffield College.”
