Henry Boot Construction offer work experience for sixth form students – 27/06/14

Liam & Alex

Henry Boot Construction last week hosted two Sixth Form work experience students from the Henry Fanshawe School in Dronfield. As part of the work experience Alex Bartin and Liam Goodall were introduced to our Head Office and its internal departments, with our Purchasing department organising an educational visit to our preferred timber supplier Arnold Lavers Timber World at Halfway, Sheffield.

The visit was in part linked to our Purchasing Policy to develop knowledge of our suppliers for both ourselves and external students who spend time with us each year.  The site visit included an in-depth tour of the facility including areas such as timber treatment, fabrications, manufacturing, door and kitchen design and creation and engineered products such as structural timber. The tour also covered the different products Arnold Laver supply such as hardwood, softwood, panel products, decorative surfaces and components.  Arnold Laver’s Sales Director was also on hand to cover a brief history of the company and its current operations.

“As A Level Business students, it was beneficial for both Alex and Liam to see the importance of building relationships with local suppliers as well as understanding the roles of various departments that contribute to a company’s overall success.”
