Henry Boot Construction host BIM Supply Chain Engagement Event – 05/12/14

BIM Supply Chain

Henry Boot Construction’s BIM Champion Kevin Dight recently hosted a BIM Supply Chain engagement event at the Casa Hotel, Chesterfield.  The event was aimed at raising awareness of the BIM journey and drivers and how we can work together with our supply chain to reach BIM Level 2.

Presenting was Tom Oulton, BIM Manager for East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Chair of the Yorkshire and Humber CIC BIM Hub, which is part of the Government’s BIM Task Group. He provided an overview of the use of BIM and why BIM? Whilst Rob Jackson, Architect, BIM Manager and Associate Director at Bond Bryan Architect, Sheffield, provided a talk on BIM maturity and BIM information requirements.

The event was brought to a close by Kevin Dight with a discussion on how Henry Boot Construction and its supply chain can collaborate before 2016 using BIM.

As part of the UK Governments drive to modernise the construction sector BIM (Building Information Modelling) will be at the heart of all government procured projects by 2016. Henry Boot Construction is currently working towards achieving BIM Level 2 which includes training all our professional employees in the implementation of BIM and developing our in-house policies and procedures.

“The event was an in depth and useful insight into the importance and need by tier 2 subcontractors to embrace change and engage with Contractors, Architects and key designers in relation to BIM process delivery in the near future and as such the importance of achieving a degree of knowledge on the subject in order to commence preparations. Henry Boot Construction are clearly well on the road already and proving extremely helpful in assisting the supply chain with a good level of understanding of the process required which is much appreciated”
