Sport stars support new SHU sports facilities – 28/03/13

Solley Turf Cutting

A new sports park being developed by Henry Boot Construction welcomed local stars Howard Webb, Mark Aston and Adrian Henderson to cut the turf on the £5m-plus project for Sheffield Hallam University.

The redeveloped site on Bawtry Road will be called the ‘Sheffield Hallam University Sports Park’ after its major revamp, which features international standard rugby and football pitches, versatile synthetic pitches and a brand new sports pavilion named after Graham Solley, the University's former head of sport.

The site, part of a £100m programme of development at the University, is available to Sheffield Hallam students, but will also be used by local community teams playing a range of sports.

HBC has a long standing history with Sheffield Hallam University, and has recently delivered a number of refurbishment projects for them in their heart of the city campus.

The 31 week project started in early March, with a completion by the end of September 2013.

"This is a significant and exciting investment for the University, but it will also benefit the community teams who use the site. Sheffield Hallam has a long term sport strategy and the investment in the new Sports Park is key to achieving that."
