Tropo Donate Solar PV System To Reclaim Charity – 05/07/13

Tropo, Henry Boot Construction’s Renewables Division, has donated and installed a solar PV system for Sheffield-based charity, Reclaim.

Reclaim provides support for adults with learning disabilities to help them achieve their potential in all aspects of life including work, leisure and social activity within the community.

The Tropo team installed a 2.16kW system comprising nine LDK 240W Polycrystalline panels and an SMA 2000HF inverter on the roof of the registered charity’s premises on Worthing Road in the City.

An ingenious mounting system was employed for the panels. In keeping with the Reclaim theme, Tropo used Renusol ‘consoles’, recycled plastic tubs filled with ballast (gravel) to bolt the solar PV panels to.

The system will enable Reclaim to save both money and energy as it has the potential to produce 1771 kWh of free electricity and offset 915kg of CO2 per annum.

"We’re absolutely delighted with the work that Tropo did and the donation itself. Thanks to this generosity the charity is now benefiting from a reduced electricity bill and the feed-in-tariff as well as reducing its carbon emissions. The money we’re saving can be used to help more and more local people with learning disabilities which is excellent news."
