Official Opening Of New Facilities For AFC Barwell – 05/07/13

Tony Shaw, Ian Gresser and Jonathan Fassihi have attended the official opening of the new changing room and community facilities for AFC Barwell in Leicestershire.

After handing over the keys to the new £650,000 sports pavilion on Dovecote Way back in January, the team was delighted to be invited back for the official opening by Barwell Parish Council Chairman, Richard Neale-Gardner, Club Secretary, Karen Hollings and Clerk to Barwell Council, Andy Ellis.

Site Manager, Jonathan Fassihi was presented with a club shirt by Chairman of AFC Barwell, Neil Fletcher, to commemorate the occasion which will soon be framed and on show in our offices.

The pavilion includes four changing rooms to FA specifications with toilets and showers, two separate match officials’ changing rooms to accommodate female referees and assistants, a general purpose room for the use of the wider community, public areas and a store.

“It was a pleasure to work on such a project that is already proving hugely beneficial to the local community. Over 450 people use the facilities every week for football alone, with the site also being utilised for archery and rounders. AFC Barwell has an excellent history of grassroots football development and the new facilities have allowed the club to not only retain their existing teams, but increase participation in a number of sports amongst a wider audience.”
