Magistrates Court refurbishment complete – 10/01/13

Magistrates Court

Henry Boot Construction’s Western Division has completed the refurbishment of Newcastle-under-Lyne Magistrates Court for the Ministry of Justice.

The North Staffordshire Justice Centre will take criminal cases from across the local area, following the closure of the Fenton Courthouse in Stoke-on-Trent in late 2012.

Works included significantly increasing the number of courts, doubling the number of holding cells, making use of previously unused space in the building and providing specialist video link facilities and waiting areas for vulnerable witnesses.

A redecorated reception area including new seating and bright and modern colour scheme provides a more welcoming feel in the main entrance.

The 26-week project was carried out throughout most of 2012 and was secured under the Ministry of Justice Strategic Alliance Agreement Framework.

“We are pleased to announce the successful delivery of yet another project on the Ministry of Justice Framework. The courts look fantastic and will provide enhanced facilities for the people of North Staffordshire.”
