Completion of External insulation and roofing works on BISF Wakefield – 02/08/13

BISF Wakefield

External insulation and roofing works on 143 British Iron and Steel (BISF) properties owned by Wakefield District Housing are now complete.

Affectionately referred to as ‘tin tops’, the refurbishment programme saw the houses completely transformed with the HBC site team first removing the corrugated steel roof panels and replacing them with modern tiles, applying external insulated render as well as constructing brand new lean-to roofs and external canopies over the front doors of each of the properties.

Tenants will benefit, not only from improved aesthetics on their homes, but also from lower energy bills and improved environmental performance.

“This particular project for Wakefield District Housing complements our recent accreditation as a Green Deal Installer and ECO framework partner for British Gas. This is exactly the sort of work that both of these initiatives are designed to deliver. Our work for Wakefield District Housing underlines our commitment to working with social housing providers to improve social housing stock and reduce carbon emissions and fuel bills in low income households.”
