Community barge trip for Eastlands residents – 27/09/12

Barge Trip

Henry Boot Construction took a group of residents from Manchester’s Eastlands Homes on a historic barge trip recently, following a successful seaside day out in August.

Staff from our Western Division took six residents on the High Peak Canal for a day trip that included a talk on the history of the canal and the abundant local wildlife.

The six-hour trip departed from Ashton-under-Lyne with a refreshment stop before the final destination at Woodley, and was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

HBC is undertaking external refurbishment insulation and cladding works to Platt, Worsley and Bickerdike Courtsin East Manchester, as well as communal area and environmental improvement works.

The trip was a thank you to the residents for their patience and co-operation whilst the works are being undertaken to their homes, as part of our mission to create strong links with TARAs and community groups in all of our work areas.

“Trips like this are part of our commitment to strengthening our links with the local community – everyone had a great day out and learned a lot about the canal.”
