Plastering placement for Doncaster youth – 28/11/12

Henry Boot Construction is strengthening links with the Communication Specialist College in Doncaster by giving another one of their apprentices the chance to gain real life experience working on site.

Max Pattern has just completed a Level 2 NVQ in Plastering at the College, formerly known as Doncaster College for the Deaf.

He was born deaf and had to learn his trade alongside the challenges of operating in a busy site environment without his hearing - taking his studies out of the classroom was vital experience.

Max worked alongside HBC’s Paul Beattie on a two week placement on our St Leger Homes of Doncaster Stainforth site and had no problems with communication, thoroughly enjoying his experience.

Forging strong links with education and training establishments is a major part of our commitment to communities and the development of our workforce, outlined in our recently launched Sustainability Strategy.

“Max had a great experience on site and was able to communicate well with Paul using text and notes. We all gained from the experience and look forward to welcoming other students from the College in future.”
