‘Mucking in’ for Give and Gain Day in Sheffield – 30/05/12

Give And Gain

Give And Gain

Staff members from Henry Boot Construction, PLC, Developments and Banner Plant helped transform a facility for disabled adults recently, as part of the international ‘Give and Gain Day’ programme.

Staff and service users from WORK Ltd on Ringinglow Road in Sheffield invited a number of organisations to help them deliver vital improvements to their facility at the Olympic themed event.

The centre provides craft based learning and development for adults with a range of learning disabilities, and runs a shop and café where users’ products are sold once complete.

The hard working teams created a new environmental walkway along the length of the entrance, installed new raised planters, gave the whole centre a fresh coat of paint and undertook essential maintenance to the gardens and external areas.

Staff from a number of companies including Irwin Mitchell, Marshalls, Waitrose, Yorkshire Bank and Capita pulled together to deliver the improvements, which formed part of an international network of volunteering projects organised by Business in the Community.

A record number of UK employees joined in with Give and Gain on Friday 18th May - with 10,071 people from over 200 companies making a difference in their communities, and a further 8,500 worldwide.

“The completed projects have made a real difference to our users – we are really impressed with all the jobs that were completed on the day – a big thank you to everyone who helped!”
