State of the art Critical Care Unit handed over – 11/06/12

Royal Hallamshire Hospital

Henry Boot Construction’s Eastern Division has just handed over the state of the art Critical Care Unit at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.

The new facility is based on the 11thfloor of the iconic main building, with associated plant rooms on the floor below.

Working closely with their neighbours in the hospital and from the University of Sheffield Medical School, the CCU team delivered the 41-week project without complaint from building users, and established excellent working relationships with the wards above and below that were affected by the works.

They also received a Performance Beyond Compliance certificate from the Considerate Constructor’s Scheme, who complimented the team on their efforts to maintain 'business as usual' in a busy area of the hospital with many public interfaces.

The client was delighted with the scheme, which was handed over last Friday.

“The estates and construction teams have done a fantastic job, the unit is a credit to all involved. The scheme is on time and within budget - the joint effort required for this scheme has been challenging but we have collectively done a sterling job.”

Jacky Rawlins, Project Director, Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
