MDC Managed Workspace project awarded – 04/07/12

Manor Development Company

After a two year tender and value engineering involvement, Henry Boot Construction’s Eastern Division is happy to announce the formal award of the MDC Managed Workspace project.

The high-quality 1560m2 office and workshop project will be constructed on behalf of the Manor Development Company, a registered charity who promote the regeneration of the Manor area of Sheffield through improving social inclusion, encouraging local businesses and employment opportunities and providing activities for local people in their ‘community space’.

The superstructure features a complicated 'hybrid' concrete frame with power-floated concrete slabs, steelwork and glulam beams, insulated cladding with mesh fixed to the outside on some elevations and full length folding doors to others.

External works on the site, at the rear of the existing facility on Alison Crescent, include a new biomass boiler, bridge and access road over a public footpath as well as extensive retaining walls and drainage systems.

Works are anticipated to start in September with a 40 week programme period.

“This has been a long process but we have been happy to assist MDC in getting this project within budget through targeted value engineering and buildability sessions. We look forward to starting on site this autumn.”
