Students Experience the World of Construction – 16/11/11
Henry Boot Construction hosted a number of work experience students from the Springs Academy in Sheffield last week, showing them the ‘other side’ of the industry.
The students were given a tour of Head Office and had talks from members of the IT, Estimating, Purchasing and Planning teams before heading out onto site at the Rawmarsh Joint Service Centre project, Rotherham.
Feedback was high from the students, who enjoyed the informal format and the access to real staff working on live projects – this gave them a different perspective on potential careers in the industry, over and above the traditional ‘trades’.
“I would personally like to thank Henry Boot for giving the students the opportunity to see different job roles within the company. Being able to see these roles within a working environment has given the students the opportunity and drive to think about and plan their own future educational or work possibilities within construction. This was a wonderful experience for the students.”
