Sustainability praised at RICS Pro-Yorkshire Awards – 23/05/11

RICS Sustainability 2011 Shortlist

A strong commitment to sustainability throughout their business operations saw Henry Boot Construction commended at the RICS Pro-Yorkshire Awards last week.

The awards are known locally as the ‘property Oscars’ and celebrate the most inspirational regional initiatives and developments in land and property.

HBC was shortlisted for the Sustainability Award for their work on the Sheffield City Council-funded Shirecliffe New Homes project, and despite just missing out on the award, they were highly commended by the judging panel.

The scheme has attracted a number of awards, including a RIBA Housing Design Award (pre-construction), a Green Apple Award, a Gold Considerate Constructors Award and a runner-up to ‘Most Considerate Site’ at the 2011 Awards – In addition, the project has just received a nomination for the RIBA 2011 Design Awards in the ‘Built’ category.

The project also featured in the March edition of Eco Building Magazine thanks to a Henry Boot Construction-funded research and development project to increase a pilot property from Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4 to 5.

“Shirecliffe has been a great success from design through to completion – the team should be proud of their successes and the industry recognition they have attracted is well and truly deserved.”
