Ivor Goodsite spreads safety message at Doncaster school – 21/06/11

Ivor Goodsite - Plover School

Considerate Constructor’s Scheme mascot Ivor Goodsite gave a talk on safety and hosted a ‘dress the teacher competition’ with his friends from Henry Boot Construction at a school in Doncaster recently.

Ivor visited Plover Primary School in Intake with site team members from the St Leger Homes of Doncaster Decent Homes improvement scheme because of works they have just started nearby.

The HBC team is currently replacing windows and doors to properties in the area and wanted to make sure the dangers of playing on or near construction sites were made clear to local children.

Over 160 pupils from Years 4, 5 & 6 attended the special assembly, many of whom live in the flats that are part of the improvement programme.

Two rounds of ‘dress the teacher’ were held, with children putting high visibility vests, helmets and other safety gear on their teachers – the two fastest entrants won vouchers and a Considerate Constructor’s Scheme goodie bag.

The children were also encouraged to enter the HBC poster competition, with winning entries to be displayed on the HBC site hoardings.
