FA Cup dreams alive thanks to HBC site team – 07/06/11

Askern Villa

Site teams from Henry Boot Construction’s Eastern Division have been cementing their relationships with communities in Doncaster through investment in their local football teams.

Askern Villa Football Club’s stadium seating failed to meet current building regulations, meaning they were faced with removal from the Northern Counties East League – dashing their hopes of entering the FA Cup for the first time in history.

A locally-based HBC site team led by Site Manager Calvin Greig helped with improvements, and the completion of the works allowed the team to stay in their league and enter the competition as planned.

The investment was provided following the completion of refurbishments to a number of Hawksley bungalows in the area, as part of the St Leger Homes of Doncaster Decent Homes partnership.

HBC also supported a local five-a-side tournament in Intake last weekend, donating a number of trophies and sports vouchers for the ‘Man of the Match’ – Rob Barkworth’s team are just starting a window and door replacement scheme in the area under Year 5 of the framework.

“Thanks to Henry BootConstruction, especially Calvin Greig, for the help theygaveus in bringing our main stand up to standard- itis so much appreciated what he and Henry Boots have done for us and the local community. Our ground has now got the grading we needed to continue to play in the Northern Counties East League, and enter the FA Cup for the first time ever.”
